Privacy Policy
This policy describes how OpenData.Earth collects, uses and protects the information you share with us when you visit the site or request access to data. We try to keep this short and plain.
What we collect
When you submit a data access request, we collect the information you provide on the form: your name, email address, optional organisation, the dataset(s) you have asked for, and your description of intended use. We use this information only to administer your access and to contact you about updates to the catalogue.
When you browse the site, our web server logs standard request metadata (URL, timestamp, user-agent, IP address) for a maximum of thirty days, solely for security and capacity-planning purposes. We do not use these logs to build user profiles.
Cookies and analytics
This site sets no tracking cookies and uses no third-party analytics by default. If we ever add aggregate analytics in the future, we will use a privacy-respecting tool that does not require cookies and does not transmit personal data.
Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties. We may share anonymised, aggregate statistics about how the catalogue is used (for example, the number of monthly requests, or which categories are most popular) in our communications and reporting.
Retention
We retain your data access request and the associated correspondence for as long as your access is active, and for two years after it lapses, for audit and re-issuance purposes.
Your rights
You can ask us, at any time, to show you the information we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it. Write to from the email address on file and we will respond within thirty days.
